::THE CRAAAAZIEST THING!::
So a few weeks ago, while perusing my favorite blog Planet Awesome Kid, I came across the most adorable photo of a young, care-free lad who was topped with a massive, curly fro quite similar to mine. After showing the pic to my sister and a few friends, the general consensus was that I’d inevitably have a son that looked just like him one day, Lol.
I was so amazed by the photo that I went so far as to “twitpic” it. To no surprise, quite a few of my followers agreed that he was most definitely one the coolest kids around and that my non-existent son would most CERTAINLY look like him. Some even Re-tweeted!
So astonished am I when I get a facebook request with a default pic that looks quite a bit like said ‘awesome kid’ not even a week and a half later. Now…this couldn’t possibly be the SAME random kid. I mean…what are the odds?! I just couldn’t shake it tho. I send a message to Simona, the adult who requested me, who is this boys mother and owner of Toica Stefan, a children’s clothing line. I open the message by letting her know that what is to follow may sound a bit crazy, and proceed to tell her of my hunch that her real son is in fact my imaginary son. I didnt save the file of the picture, but after describing it to her, she sends me a link…to the SAME PICTURE! …as in..he’s HER SON! How the heck does that happen?!?!
If that wasn’t crazy enough, i mention to her that I noticed she was a friend of my brother Imani on facebook as well, only for her to inform me that she was literally JUST at his house…as in…THAT NIGHT because he was going to be working on their website.
…if thats not eerie, I don’t know what is.
I don’t link my twitter and my facebook…both accounts even go by completely different aliases. She had no clue about me tweeting about her son…or me seeing the post on the blog…because I didn’t comment. This entire scenario is the epitome of bizarre! …but I’m not mad at all, lol.
Anyway, I said all of that to say….check out this video, lol.

that is precisely where my mind went when I acquired them the day before yesterday. I had quite the AMAZING thrifting experience with Sarah and Damon…in…Jersey, lol. (I know)
Damon detested these slacks, but Sarah was on my side. My mind was made as soon as I spotted them. I can honestly care less if the “boyfriend fit” is “in” or “out”. these will be in heavy rotation for my spring. The rope was once straps on a dress I made a while ago. I kinda snatched it off to mimic some jeans I saw from Virgin Blak…I rather like the effect :)

They are the absolute BESTESTESTEST!!! This bag is everything! It can literally carry my laptop, camera AND the typical ‘purse’ contents, while remaining oh so chic ;}
The necklace was mistakenly stolen from Sarah…by…me. Lol. After thrifting we decided to drop by Janelle Monae’s listening party for her new “Android” album. There was no time from running home and changing, and i was still in ‘running around NY’ clothes, so I “borrowed” the necklace from her to seem as tho I put forth SOME sort of effort.
I’m not mad at Janelle’s new project. It was a pretty dope sound… but she is typically great for musicality.

I took a trip to my parent’s home last week, which has a lot to do with my absence from the blog and web in general. I just needed to unplug, relax, and eat some great food from my Chef Daddy =D
While going through various closets, I stumbled upon a bunch of clothing I had made over the years. My Mommy had them nicely protected and stored away. It was rather nostalgic to go through them all. Each had a specific memory attached.
I made this dress for a photo shoot in Philly back in like…07 I believe. It was shot by my bro Imani Waddy. We drove around the city looking for randomly interesting spots to take flicks in. It was literally 100 degrees and I was doing wardrobe changes in my car. My lovely friend and jewelry designer/make-up artist Ajahmure held me down something serious. Ultimately, someone had pointed us in the direction of an after-school center that would allow us to use their space to accomplish the “studio” shots.
This was one of them, Lol.

So here’s the thing, I NEVER know what I want for my birthday. Or Christmas…or any other gift giving occasion for that matter. It’s just never a huge enough deal for me to contemplate a literal list, I mean…I had nothing to do with my own birth…if anything, I should be getting my parents presents for being the BEST ON PLANET EARTH!! And when it comes to loved ones, I appreciate their thought and lives more than any tangible thing. I do tend to frustrate a few of said loved ones with my inability to identify desired gifts…while others are used to it and don’t give me as much of a hard time.
This year however, with the discovery of a new cool label and after taking assessment of what it is I actually DO need, I was able to name a thing or two that I wouldn’t mind receiving to celebrate me turning a year older =D

I must admit, in watching this, I was a bit back and forth about whether i dug the music, whether this was corny or clever, but ultimately, I definitely dig! If nothing else, I’m excited that its not the generic carbon copy that had become so prevalent in the industry in recent years. I gained a new respect for Will after the ‘Who Killed the Music” project that he commissioned Sarah for. I had chills the entire shoot and was happy to see someone finally being bold.
Speaking of which… I don’t think I ever showed you guys the final piece…lol. Forgive me:

Found this asym tee/tunick/dress at dear H&M for a very mere $5.95….and that was not sale, but REGULARLY priced! …I bought two, lol. The other has coral stripes.
What exactly is it with me and stripes though??? I can’t seem to wrap my mind around it. Is it psychological or something?? I have no idea, all I know is that I’m drawn to ‘em like a moth to a flame. I should go into the gondola driving bizniz, haha!
Worn with the Bucci’s and my favorite leopard burn-out tights by Hue that I destroyed years ago, but have yet to get rid of because doing so would rip a similar hole in my heart. I swear I have searched high and low to replace these babies and they are nowhere to be found! The only ones that come close are poor excuses for tights. ::sigh::

I have always had quite the infatuation with light and lighting fixtures, particularly chandeliers. I know it’s been a while since I’ve pulled from my decor inspiration folder, so here are some fixtures that strike my fancy:
I think what I appreciate most about chandeliers, especially with how their design has developed so progressively by innovative designers are, their ability to add the touch of quirkiness that I feel is so necessary when decorating. To have a room filled with classic silhouettes and traditional furniture can easily be fused with a bit of modernity by adding a brightly hued, traditionally shaped chandelier. Or take a young modern space, how dope is a fixture laced with sneakers, RayBan frames and retro car models as charms to replace traditional crystal?!
A good chandelier is an easy way to hint at ones personality. I say the bigger the risk, the better!

The military plaid topper is by a label called O1C…never heard of them previously, but I picked it up at Nordstrom’s last year (along with a green/navy version). And i saw it fitting to bust out the Pierre Hardy’s for this look. It’s quite hilarious how everyone who has seen this pic think I’m wearing a pair of J’s…but no, these are not Jordan’s…they’re Hardy’s…with socks…=D

The following is an image heavy post…but that’s because it is filled with wondermus images from the lookbook of one of my new favorite labels. I promise you won’t regret.
So, I randomly discovered ‘Virgin Blak” earlier this week and just didnt know what to do with myself…I still don’t! I Googled them, and much to my surprise…they haven’t gotten much press…I’m genuinely perplexed!
I mean, they offer some mighty fine pieces for prices that make you do a double take (in a good way). It’s so reasonable I kinda feel like a balla! lolol. I know we have a few more cold months here in NYC, but I almost wish I had discovered these guys earlier…I probably would’ve accumulated all of their items by now. I know it’s meant for men, but I feel the silhouette’s can definitely translate…plus…I’ve always been a fan of wearing men’s clothing…in a not-so-cross-dresser kinda way. About 80% of my denim and 50% of my jackets are from some stores guy section. I’m tall. So it works. Lol
