::BEAUTY BASIX::

I get a lot of inquiries concerning my beauty regimen, so I figured it’d be best to compile a few posts discussing the products that work best for me. I try to be as low maintenance as possible when it comes to makeup and skin care. I like skin to look like skin, I’m terrified of the idea of walking out the house looking like I just left a carnival and went crazy at the face painting station. My usual goal with makeup is to even out skin tone, definition of eyes and brows and softening everything up with a hint of cheek color. So here we go, my Beauty Basix:

For my everyday life face, these are my go to products. If I have a shoot or on camera appearance the products and techniques vary based on the situation and makeup artist.

I can’t stress enough how much I believe skin should look like skin. I don’t want to be covered up, I want to shine through – I do however keep crazy hours, so if my tone is a bit uneven, I want a foundation that balances it out without an inch worth of build up that can be scraped off with a fingernail, lol. For blog posts, I’m typically wearing BOBBI BROWN’S Skin Finish Foundation. It is so amazingly light, but gives fantastic coverage. And the product doesn’t say it, but I almost feel like there’s an ingredient in there that conditions your skin as you wear it. I pair this with a light brushing of her Pressed Powder to set everything. In the lower price range, I am also very impressed with Maybelline’s FIT ME collection. Again, super lightweight, keeps skin looking like skin, but great coverage. I also like their powder. In fact (in all honesty) when I’m in a rush, just brushing on a bit of either powders after applying primer gets the job done.

For my day to day, particularly in warmer seasons, BB creams/Tinted moisturizers are my preference. My absolute favorite is a tie between Philosophy’s HOPE in a TINTED MOISTURIZER and NARS. Smashbox has a fantastic BB Cream as well. Nars also makes my favorite blush/bronzer combo. My mom bought be the sin/casino pallet a few years back and it’s still my fav. I tend to fear bronzers, because I don’t like looking sparkly… I just like the glow. This one isn’t so glittery – but my hands down favorite bronzer/highlighter can be found at Walmart for 8 bux. It’s called GLOW by HardCandy, and it’s fantabulous! I’m also really into Maybelline’s DREAM BOUNCY BLUSH for it’s texture and color variations. it’s texture kind of just kisses the skin and blends really, really well. I think it’s great to be able to experiment with colors without having to drop 30 bux every time you wanna get adventurous. This is a great product that’s easy on the pockets. When it comes to lip color, I vary in brands with both sticks and glosses, and that is simply because different brands have different shade variations that don’t always fit me well, so when I want specific shades it takes a bit of patience on my part. I find most of my favorite nude tones come from NARS though.

When it comes to eyes, i just like a super black, dramatic liner and mascara that both plumps AND lengthens. I found my favorite liner in my local beauty supply store for under 10 dollars by NYX, It’s a jumbo marker, so one stroke and your set. (I also found it online, For mascara, I’ve been sticking with BUXOM lately. It fans out lashes pretty perfectly and adds immediately evident length and fullness. I love it.

I hope this helped or shed some sort of light for those who have been curious. Here’s a list of the products with some links:

    What shade are you in the Bobbi Brown foundation? I’m so excited to try some of these, like the mascara and tinted moisturizer…I’ve always been afraid tinted moisturizer was a sham, but it seems to work wonders for you!
