Fashion Week was a lot. AMAZING! …but a lot, lol. This was by far the biggest year for Harlem’s Fashion Row and it was quite the honor to participate. 2012 marked our 5 Year Anniversary which we celebrated all around. There was a press breakfast, a Dinner with Bevy, our first ever Blogger Breakfast the same day of our first ever Fashion’s Night Out event, which happened to be our first ever Pop Up Shop! Our partners and sponsors this year were tremendous and pulled out all the stops! Marriott, our presenting sponsor, let us take over the top two floors of the Renaissance Hotel 57 as well as their rooftop terrace to convert into HFR’s very own shopping experience. 18 designers and vendors with everything from Shoes, Accessories, Apparel, Cosmetics and Vintage Goods transformed hotel rooms into boutiques for patrons to come, gander, drink, snack and most importantly, SHOP! We expected a crowd of approximately 400 guests to show… over 1200 people came!! There was a HUGE line down the block of 57th and Lexington waiting to get in! Dark & Lovely was our official beauty sponsor and the presenting sponsor for our Blogger Breakfast. The amazing folks at Coca-Cola/Smart Water sponsored the Awards Dinner that Honored Ms. Audrey Smaltz, Ty Hunter and Kevan Hall – all three brands sponsored the SS13 presentation as well. Harlem’s Fashion Row was also very excited to Have Associated Press, AOL and The Huffington Post as media partners this season as well.
There were so many photos and so many events that occurred, I honesty have been having trouble wrapping my mind around it all let alone summing it all up. But here is some of the press we’ve gotten.
The SS13 presentation took place at the beautiful Jazz at Lincoln Center for the second year. The crop of designers for this season included Latisha Daring of Ashtyn, Nzinga Knight, Joseph Bethune of Bethune Bros., Omar Salam of Sukeina and this year’s honoree, Mr. Kevan Hall. In attendance was Ty Hunter, also an HFR Honoree this year, who we celebrated at our Award Dinner in the beautiful Americano Hotel. Also spotted in the crowd: Vanessa WIlliams (who is insaaaanely gorgeous btw), Natalie Cole, Fern Mallis, Raphael Saadiq, Tasha Smith and a plethora of others.
